Katarzyna Kosmala

Katarzyna Kosmala, PhD is Professor in Culture, Media and Visual Practice, School of Cultural and Creative Industries, University of the West of Scotland, Visiting Research Fellow at GEXcel, Institute of Thematic Gender Studies, Linköping University & Örebro University, Sweden, Visiting Professor at Fundação Getulio Vargas, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a curator and freelance art writer. She is currently involved in the AHRC-funded project Translating East European & Russian Cultures: Exchange and Communication within a Multidisciplinary and Multicultural Area Studies Context (in collaboration with the University of Glasgow).

She researches and writes on aspects of construction and representation of gender and identity politics in contemporary (visual) culture as well as alternative forms of organizing, predominantly in the context of periphery. She is currently working on her book monograph: Imagining Masculinities: Spatial and Temporal Representation and Visual Culture (Routledge) and edited collection: Sexing the Border (Cambridge Scholars).
