Curatorial Workshop and Residency Models

An event focussing on models of curatorial workshops and research residencies.

Short reports will be presented by Scottish curators who have been participants in recent international programmes including:
– Gwangju Biennale international curator course at the Gwangju Biennial, South Korea
– HIAP curator residency in Helsinki, Finland
– vessel International Curatorial Workshop, part of the Giant Step symposia in Bari, Italy
– engage Summer School in Helsinki, Finland and It’s All Mediating conference, Kiasma, Helsinki, Finland
– Salzburg International Summer Academy in Austria – curatorial course led by What How For Whom/WHW Art Always Has It’s Consequences

Speakers include: Katie Bruce, Ben Fallon, Kirsteen Macdonald, Laura Simpson, Mother Tongue.  Their reports share behind-the-scenes knowledge of specific curatorial training and research opportunities that regularly land in our email inboxes.

Following the presentations will be time for discussion. This will relate these learning processes to the Scotland context to look at continuing support for new networks of information for curators internationally; and possible workshop models for curators that could be held in Scotland such as a future summer school.
