Curatorial Studio 2017 began with a weekend workshop in Glasgow in May when we welcomed eight new participants.
Peter Amoore, Yvonne Billimore, Ben Callaghan, Camila Crosta, Nikki Kane, Mairi Lafferty, John McDougall and Anastasia Philimonos work in varied contexts across Scotland from Aberdeenshire to Edinburgh, such as artist-led committees, Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, self-directed curatorial research, small arts organisations, academia and alongside artistic practice. During five intensive sessions we will work together to explore the identity of the contemporary curator, the possibilities and limitations of the exhibition, and relationships between writing and curating.
Curatorial Studio is devised by Kirsteen Macdonald, and managed by SCAN. The ongoing development of the project is supported by a small advisory group which currently includes previous participants and representatives from Centre for Contemporary Art Glasgow and Glasgow School of Art.
The inaugural Curatorial Studio programme ran from January – November 2016. Previous public events within this programme are listed on our homepage. The fifteen participants who took part in 2016 are listed below.
