Curatorial development in Scotland

Rachel Grant

My curatorial practice is an emerging one that is influenced by my own working practice as an artist. I engage in a process-led practice, viewing this making activity as one of framing questions, not reaching for answers.

I’m currently working with the Scottish Sculpture Workshop, Aberdeenshire and Seventeen Creative hub in Aberdeen in curating the project ‘Freed Market: How do we feed ourselves?’ The project itself looks at raising this question across the subjects of culture, social aspects and through the immediacy of food. This has emerged as a series of temporary events running over six months, The picnic series facilitated by myself and local hosts, and the artists temporary events. In November we will be having a final exhibition and discussion event.

I have an upcoming curatorial residency within the ‘Community out – of – bounds’ program in Aberdeen,an environment in which I’ll be collaborating with an individual artist within a community centre setting.
