Framework is a research and development project providing a sustained platform for curators in Scotland to explore their work within a wider context of curatorial practice and theory.
Framework was initiated by Kirsteen Macdonald in 2011 as an itinerant programme of workshops and discussions held in different venues across Scotland and co-hosted by leading international curators and writers. This initial programme was organised in partnership with CCA, Glasgow and instigated new networks between early career and more established curators. Framework events aim to be dynamic platforms of exchange and dialogue between participants centred around contemporary curatorial theory. Unlike talks or lectures where the majority are audience members receiving information from the authored position of a speaker, the events attempt to open up participation, in order to create a sustained and meaningful cultural debate that places curatorial practice at its core.
